Industry Energy Equinor – the work on equality

Industry Energy Equinor adheres to the LO and NHO main agreement and has for many years elected a specific employee representative on equality. The equality representative i joined by a representative from each of the areas (offshore, plan and office) in a specific equality committee. In addition, the committee ha established an informal network of interested employee representative, all of whom are also invited to the monthly committee meeting

For the last 10-12 years, Torunn Loftsgård, Stavanger has been elected as the equality employee representative. In this period the committee has carried out a member poll on equality (2015/2016), conducted four courses (three classroom courses and two teams based course) for employee representatives in Industry Energy Equinor, done a yearly examination of the wage statistics (male/female) for members looking for trends and variations, given input to the yearly salary negotiations, participated in the revision of the Equality agreement (new version in 2022), participated in the Gender Pay Gap Project (2021), still participating in the company’s Diversity and Inclusion Project (2022) as well as started collaborating with Industry Energy Aker BP to establish a joint network and an information portal (homepage) on equality for Industry Energy employee representatives in all member companies.

The equality committee and the network conduct monthly meetings where the status of ongoing activities is discussed, most activities are listed in a specific work plan for the committee. In addition, we discuss current issues on equality, equity, diversity and inclusion, often connected to the representatives’ everyday work, company initiatives, recent research and/or current news. The committee has primarily focused on male/female equality, but all discrimination, exclusion, differences in treatment etc. are important for the work ahead. In 2023 we have conducted a new teams based course (February, 14 participants), are planning a workshop and brainstorming with the other unions in Equinor, will continue the Aker BP collaboration and are still participating in the Diversity and Inclusion Project.
